Free Ways to Stay Calm and Healthy and Boost Your Immune System During Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Wow. What a crazy world we live in right now. It’s hard not to panic or feel overwhelemed or stress out over the school and event cancellations, feeling stuck in your home, upending your regular work and life routines and trying to find a place that still has toilet paper on the shelves.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to put extra effort into maintaining your mental, physical and emotional health. Even if you’ve never practiced yoga or meditation or hiking before, here are 108 reasons (health benefits) as to why you should give it a try or keep maintaining your current practice

In fact, during the 1918 Influenza pandemic, medics found that severely ill flu patients nursed outdoors recovered better than those treated indoors. A combination of fresh air and sunlight seems to have prevented deaths among patients; and infections among medical staff. There is scientific support for this. Research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant. Fresh air can kill the flu virus and other harmful germs. Equally, sunlight is germicidal and there is now evidence it can kill the flu virus.

That’s why this past weekend, I created this video series to share the tools I use to keep calm and boost your immunity during this coronovirus or covid-19 panic (and any other stressful times in life).

When your stress and anxiety is high, it stimulates your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and produces more cortisol in your body, which can lower your immunity. These videos will help you calm down, relax and therefore support your immune system.

Video 1: A 10-minute sensory meditation that will get us out of our heads and into our bodies.

Video 2: A guided walking/hiking meditation designed to get you outside into the fresh air and sunshine, which has been scientifically proven to help boost immunity or speed illness recovery.

Video 3: A gentle, immune-boosting yoga asana practice with plenty of twists and folds to help refresh the sinuses and detox the body.

Bonus Videos! It's also important to get a lot of sleep to maintain a healthy immune system, which these yoga Nidra guided relaxation videos can help with:

Please subscribe to my youtube channel since it is FREE and I will be releasing many more yoga and meditation videos over the next several days and weeks that you can practice from the safety and comfort of your home. It will also help me work towards recovering lost income (getting paid by YouTube) from not being able to teach yoga in person right now.

We also have a few other blog posts with tips on staying healthy and happy including healthy, immune-boosting teas and recipes:
