My name is Miranda Peterson, RYT500 yoga teacher and owner/founder of Namaste in Nature in Asheville, North Carolina. My yoga practice started with a class in college in Tampa, Florida in 2006. Years later, I did my first 200 hours of yoga teacher training in traditional Hatha yoga at AyurYoga Eco Ashram in Southern India and my additional, advanced 300 hours of yoga teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center. I prefer to practice and teach creative yoga flows outdoors and no two classes are the same.

These free yoga classes will help you feel/achieve the many benefits of yoga, including:
• better sleep
• reduce stress
• energy boost
• workouts
• build strength/balance/flexibility
• healthy immune system
+ more!

Reasons why you should do yoga

Whether you’re new to yoga or got busy and started neglecting your time on the mat, these videos will help you start or restart your practice. We call it a practice because yoga should be done regularly to really enjoy the benefits such as:

• Reducing stress, anxiety
• Better sleep
• Increased strength, flexibility, joint mobility
• Improve posture and body awareness
• Losing weight

And the list goes on… 108 health benefits of yoga, meditation, hiking & nature

How often should you do yoga?

The question I get asked most often is: How often should I do yoga to see results? Results like being more flexible, losing weight, building muscle/strength, etc. Of course this is going to be different for everyone because everyone’s goals, schedule and body is different.

Yoga is most effective when practiced regularly: 3 to 5 times per week.

At the very least, do yoga a minimum of 1 or 2 times per week.

You can even do yoga every day if you want. If you want to practice yoga daily, I reccommend mixing up the sequences so that some are more challenging and some are easier or more relaxing to give your body a break.

How to make yoga a habit

Family, careers, life in general… We all get busy and have a bazillion things on our to-do lists. Most people tend to push self-care to the bottom of the pile. However, it’s way harder to fill the cups of others if you’re running on empty.

So the key to creating a daily yoga habit is to make yoga a consistent part of your routine.

Practice at the same times, same days, every week. Energizing/challenging yoga is best in the morning and gentle/relaxing yoga is best in the evenings.

📅 Do this right now: Schedule your yoga time on your calendar. If you use a digital calendar like Google Calendar, you can even copy/paste the video links below into the calendar description so that all you have to do is click when that reminder pops up on your phone or computer. Repeat this at the beginning of each month and adjust your yoga schedule as needed.

✍️ Bonus tip: I also find it helpful to keep a yoga journal and write down how you feel on a scale of 1-10 before the practice and after the practice and notice the difference. You can also write in more detail about your physical/mental/emotional/spiritual state, any insights you have during the yoga practice. This will keep you connected to your practice and your progress.

How long should you do yoga?

Any yoga is better than no yoga but 30-60 minutes is the sweet spot to really get into a good flow. There are plenty of videos on this page around 30, 45 or 60 minutes to help you work out, energize or relax.

If you are just beginning and/or only have a few minutes in the morning, evening or during your lunch break, there are plenty of shorter 10, 15, 20 and 25 minute yoga videos for you to choose from.
